AAAI 2027 Bridge Program

Modeling and Simulating Human Behavior in the Age of AI: From Cognition to Society

Montréal, Canada · February 16 or 17, 2027

Overview

This Bridge brings together researchers in AI, psychology, sociology, cognitive science, human–computer interaction, and computational social science to study human behavior, from individual cognition to collective dynamics.

Participants will compare how different disciplines construct and evaluate behavioral models, share research findings, and identify opportunities for collaboration.

Topics of interest

  • Cognitive and behavioral mechanisms: memory, learning, emotion, motivation, bounded rationality, and interpretable model discovery.
  • Individual differences, adaptation, and human–AI interaction.
  • Social networks, norms, institutions, cooperation, and collective behavior.
  • Generative agents, agent-based models, and hybrid simulation.
  • Empirical grounding, calibration, uncertainty, replication, cross-cultural evaluation, and responsible use.

Call for Participation

We welcome research findings, experience reports, methods, theory, datasets, evaluation tools, demonstrations, and position papers relevant to modeling human behavior.

Papers may be up to 4 pages, excluding references.

  • Use the AAAI two-column format. References do not count toward the page limit.
  • Anonymize manuscripts for double-blind review.
  • Explain the human phenomenon, your approach or research question, and the connection to another participating community.
  • Each submission will receive at least two reviews assessing relevance, technical or conceptual substance, and suitability for discussion.
  • Submissions are non-archival.

Submission portal: Coming soon.

Researchers without a paper may submit a short participation statement, subject to capacity. Graduate students and early-career researchers are particularly welcome. Contact the organizers for details.

Presentations must be delivered in person.
